Snake soup has been considered a delicacy in Chinese culture for over two thousand years. Pre-Qin's Shanhaijing recorded that inhabitants in Guangdong province started to consume snake soups; and the eating culture was widely popularised in China at the end of Qing Dynasty.Snake soup was regarded as a “highstatus” dish because of its varied ingredients and complicated preparation, it was the symbol of wealth, bravery and respect; and was only served to certain officials and celebrities. But when it comes to people in this part of the world very few is recorded about snake meals, and it is happening here.

However, Chinese-medicine practitioners highlight that owing to the cumulation of excess heat in the body
people who are suffering a cold or a fever are not advised to take any snake soup, as it may intensify their illness.
 Scientifically,
 snake meat itself is "credited with unusual nutritional properties" It is very rich in proteins, calcium and iron,
 which facilitates the development of muscles and boosts metabolism.A bowl of snake soup contains approximately 357 calories,
 and frying can increase the fat content and calories of the soup. There is a high risk of suffering from obesity and high blood pressure if an excess of snake soup are consumed. Pregnant women and people with asthma, diabetes and heart diseases are not recommended to take snake soup.
 Purveyors associate consumption of snake bile with alleviating rheumatism, stopping coughing.
